Who Am I?
There's a change in the air!
When I started out as a writer, I didn't know anything about self publishing or self promotion. I didn't know about marketing or branding. The internet is full of good advice, but a lot of it is conflicting advice.
Consequently I have changed direction several times. For example, I had a blog, then I had a different blog, then I had two blogs. I had one mailing list that nobody signed up to, then a different mailing list for a different purpose. I think the main reasons for the conflicting advice are firstly that the marketplace moves on, and secondly the same solution will not work for all people.
I set out to write science fiction but got distracted into writing medieval history. I got confused about whether to keep the subjects separate or together. Since I was a child I have always written poetry, and still do. I wasn't sure where that fitted in with my public persona as an author. As I'm learning about writing I'm sharing what I've learned and how I'm progressing.
After many false starts, and much trial and error, I have decided to be who I really am – all of it. I write poetry, science fiction, and medieval history, and I also write about writing. If you are interested in my work, you will get links to all of it, no matter which way you found me or whatever your area of interest. The picture at the top, previously used for science fiction, now symbolises it all, because it's a whole galaxy of stuff (and I like dragons!).
You can now sign up for my mailing list from both my blogs, Ann Marie Thinking Out Loud where I write about writing (including poetry) and my faith, and Ann Marie Thomas, Author (this one) where I write about my books of medieval history and science fiction.
When you join my mailing list you will be offered not one, but four free gifts – one for each aspect of my writing. So you can self-select. You can download the free book that suits you, or maybe you joined for one reason but would like to see what my other stuff is like, and download some of the other material.
To make mailouts easier I have made a logo for each, and they will appear in my emails so you can easily read only the section or sections which interest you. Here are the free gifts with the logos below:
Medieval History: Life in a Medieval Castle (illustrated)
Science Fiction: A Brief History of Science Fiction (illustrated)
Poetry: A Poetry Sampler of some of my poems, with commentary
Writing: A Beginner's Guide to Self-Promotion & Self-Publishing
So now you have four good reasons to sign up and join my crew! I’m looking forward to connecting with you!
